Selective Insulation is a project of the Berlin architect Davidson Rafailidis where he created insulated workspaces in a large and cold room. The concept has been applied to a studio in a 19th century building in Hexham, England where working in hot working conditions is difficult for most of the year.
This project is a response to the cold working conditions in the Old School House, an artist campus. Selective Insulation defines small areas in a building that need to be warm during the cold months of the year.

The installation is positioned as a room within the room within a 66 m2 working area and provides different temperature-specific areas for different events.
